We have been proudly serving the greater Kalamazoo MI area for over 10 years! Our staff consists of several piano teachers, a violin teacher, a guitar teacher, and vocal teachers. All of our staff have deep performance experience and/or music university training and a clean background. We are also able to service pianos.
About Dan Forbes
- 30 + yrs piano performance experience, 8+ yrs teaching piano, 7 yrs tuning pianos.
- Took 9 years of extensive piano lessons.
- Have adjudicated in past for Michigan Music Teachers Association events for prior 5 years, with students participating each year.
- Member of National Federation of Music Clubs.
- Vice President of Battle Creek Morning Musical Club.
- Member Piano Technicians Guild.
- Bachelor's Degree from MSU.
- Member of "Lord's Light" band and solo church performer.
- Have YouTube performance and lessons available.
- Was 27 playing piano in a store when I realized I wanted to make a living teaching what I love.
Ms. Irina Kagan has many decades of playing and performing the violin, starting at a very young age. She has over 10 years teaching, and was originally trained in what was the USSR by the best teachers. She has a Master of Music from University of Kentucky, and presently performs with Kalamazoo Philharmonica, Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Holland Symphony Orchestra, South Bend Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, West Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra and more!
Ms. Bailey Schulte is a licensed music therapist and recent WMU grad with several years of teaching piano and a decade or so performing.
Mrs. Karla Shotts has over 25 years of playing, singing and professional teaching experience. In addition to running a private studio for 25+ years, she has served as Director of Choirs for St. Joseph Middle School in Battle Creek. She is currently involved with National Federation of Music Clubs as President of Battle Creek Morning Musical Club, as well as performing as accompanist for local church and elder care gigs.
Mr. John Rose is a guitarist / multi-instrumentalist with over 20 years experience. He is a professionally recorded artist, who has played out with local bands such as Rose Family Guild. He has also done sound production for local bands and transcribed their music. When not working the sales desk at a local guitar store, he runs a music video production studio out of his basement. John is very knowledgeable in blues, jazz and classical playing styles, very knowledgeable in music theory, and has experience in guitar repair, amplifier repair, and piano repair.
